WMC - World Muaythai Council: Yodsanklai Fairtex hangs up his gloves.

Some big news in the muaythai world yesterday as Yodsanklai took to Instagram to announce his retirement from muaythai much to the dismay of his many fans across the world.

Known as having the strongest kick in muaythai, Yodsanklai shot to international fame when he appeared on The Contender Asia, the award winning reality TV show sanctioned by the World Muaythai Council in which he for 15 weeks showed as much character as he did talent, beating John Wayne Parr in the final, wHe defended the WMC World Title twice and also represented Thailand at the IFMA World Combat Games in 2012 as well as becoming the King’s Cup Winner.

Yodsanklai took a year off from muaythai in 2016 due to a knee injury, making a return to the ring with a vengeance. After 4 fights he then had to make the decision to retire due to continued pain which he believed was preventing him from reaching his potential.inning 150,000 USD and becoming the WMC world champion.

This decision was a major shock for fans across the globe who were hoping to see him compete in one of the biggest fights of all time against another muaythai legend Buakaw.
Yodsanklai then decided to return to the ring in 2019 losing 3 fights consecutively and receiving his first loss in nearly 10 years.

After announcing his retirement on Instagram yesterday many fans took to social media to thank him for his inspiration, wishing him all the best in retirement. Messages from former-opponents turned friends such as John Wayne Parr and Artem Levin also wished the legend all the best.

JORINA BAARS IS BACK WITH LION FIGHT!
One of the most recognizable champions in LION FIGHT history is ready for a return to where her stardom began.

LION FIGHT CEO Scott Kent announced today that Women’s World Welterweight champion Jorina Baars has agreed to new multi-fight exclusive contract. The Dutch sensation is expected back in action as early as the beginning of the summer. Baars is best-known for winning the LION FIGHT world title with a stunningly dominant performance against Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino at Lion Fight 14 under the bright lights of the Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas.

“There is no bigger name in women’s Muay Thai than Jorina Baars and she is one of the best pound-for-pound female fighters of all time in any combat sport,” said Kent.

“We are extremely excited to welcome her back to LION FIGHT and there are some very intriguing matchups ahead for her.”

After defeating “Cyborg”, Baars, who hails from Den Helder, Holland, defended her title three times. Her first defense was a third-round TKO stoppage in a rematch against Chantal Ughi, before she went on earn unanimous decision victories over Martina Jindrova and Angela Whitley.

A two-time winner of Awakening Fighters’ Fight of the Year (vs. Justino and vs. Jindrova in 2015), Baars currently stands with a record of 39-1-3 – a mark she intends on improving inside the LION FIGHT ring.

“I am very happy to be back with LION FIGHT so I can defend my title and remain the queen of women’s Muay Thai,” said Baars.

In addition to bouts in the United States and her home country, Baars has fought in England, Germany, Australia, Hungary and
China.

Next up for LION FIGHT is a March 12th date on UFC FIGHT PASS as Steve Walker defends his North American Super Cruiserweight title against Brian Collette in the main event of Lion Fight 64. The event will also feature the two semifinal matchups in the Lion Fight North American Heavyweight Title Tournament.
